A partner who knowsyour whole picture —not a portal.

Harbor & Co. is a boutique practice for families, professionals, and retirees who would rather keep one trusted partner for years than learn a new app every spring. We prepare your taxes, plan around them, and hold the long view of your affairs with discretion.

I · The practice

A small range of work, done with care.

We do not try to be everything. We do a handful of things well, year after year, for the same families — so the advice compounds the way good planning should.

01

Personal & family tax

Federal and state preparation, multi-state and equity-compensation situations, and the quiet year-round planning that keeps April uneventful.

02

Wealth & retirement planning

Cash-flow, retirement-account, and withdrawal strategy coordinated with your tax picture — so one decision never quietly undoes another.

03

Estate & legacy coordination

Gifting, trusts, and generational transfers planned alongside your attorney, with the tax consequences mapped well before they arrive.

04

Stewardship for the year ahead

Quarterly estimates, life-change reviews, and a standing line to your partner when a decision can't wait until tax season.

II · Our approach

We measure our work in decades, not deadlines. The point is not this return — it is the next twenty.

A tax return is a single photograph of a life that keeps moving. The families we serve do not need a faster photograph; they need someone who has the whole album, remembers the chapter before this one, and can see the one coming next.

So we keep the relationship small and the partner constant. The person who answers your email in March is the one who planned the move in October and will sit with your family the year it matters most. Continuity is not a feature here — it is the entire practice.

III · The partners

You will know whose desk your file sits on.

Three partners, each carrying a small book of clients on purpose. You are assigned one — and you keep them.

IV · Who we serve

A practice built for the long relationship.

We take on a limited number of new families each year, and only where we expect to be working together for a long time. If your situation is one season and gone, we are happy to point you somewhere better suited.

Families with a full picture

Two careers, children, property, and the dozen small decisions a year that each carry a tax tail. We hold all of it so you do not have to.

Professionals & partners

Physicians, attorneys, founders, and firm partners with equity, multi-state income, and compensation that rarely fits a simple form.

Those entering retirement

The years where withdrawal order, Roth conversions, and timing quietly decide how far the work of a lifetime actually goes.

The next generation

We make a point of knowing your children's situations too, so the relationship — and the planning — carries cleanly to the people who inherit it.

V · The process

How a relationship begins.

There is no portal to sign into and no ticket to file. The beginning is a conversation, and it stays that way.

01

An introduction

You write to a partner. We sit down — in the office or by call — to understand your situation and whether we are genuinely the right home for it. No charge, no obligation.

02

A full reading

If we proceed, your partner reviews your prior returns and present affairs end to end, and returns to you with what they see — including the opportunities the last preparer left on the table.

03

The standing relationship

From there your partner carries your file year-round: preparation each spring, planning through the year, and a direct line whenever a decision can't wait.

04

The long view

Each year your partner revisits the whole picture against where your life is heading — retirement, a sale, a gift, a generation — so nothing important arrives as a surprise.

VI · Standing & discretion

Held to a fiduciary standard. Kept in confidence.

Every partner is a licensed CPA, and our planning work is delivered as a fiduciary — your interest first, in writing, without exception. What you share with us stays between you and your partner.

VII · Client words
We have had the same partner for nineteen years. She knew to call the week my husband retired, before we thought to ask. That is the whole difference.

M. & J. Whitfield

Clients since 2007

I came in with a tangle of equity comp across three states. They untangled it, then made sure it never tangled again. I have stopped dreading the spring.

Dr. A. Okonkwo

Client since 2016

When my mother passed, our partner already knew the estate, the people, and the plan. There were no scrambling phone calls. It was simply handled.

VIII · Contact a partner

Begin with a letter, not a login.

Write to us and a partner will read it themselves — usually within two business days. Tell us a little about your situation and we will tell you, plainly, whether Harbor is the right home for it.

  • Your note is read by a partner, not a queue
  • A reply, with a candid view, within two business days
  • No portal, no ticket, no automated reply

IX · Questions

Before you write.

Why email a partner instead of booking online?

Because the relationship is the product. A first note tells us your situation in your own words, and a partner — not a scheduler — decides whether we are the right fit. It sets the tone for how we will always work: directly.

Do I really keep the same partner?

Yes. You are assigned one partner and you keep them. They prepare your returns, plan your year, and know your family. Each partner carries a deliberately small book so that promise is real.

Are you taking on new clients?

A limited number each year, and only where we expect a long relationship. If we are not the right home for your situation, we will say so and point you somewhere better suited.

What does a fiduciary standard mean for me?

On every planning engagement we are obligated to put your interest first, in writing. We are fee-based and take no product commissions, so our advice is not quietly selling you anything.

Do you only prepare tax returns?

Preparation is the doorway. Most of our work is the year-round planning around it — retirement, estate, equity, and the timing decisions that decide how a return turns out long before April.
