Maya Okafor comes to your home for unhurried wellness, vaccines, sick visits, and gentle senior care, so your pet stays relaxed in the one place they trust most.

We built the whole experience around keeping your pet relaxed. You tell us a little, we confirm a window, and the vet arrives at your door, settled and unhurried.
STEP 01
Share your pet, your address, the reason for the visit, and a window that works. It takes about a minute. No phone tree, no account.
STEP 02
Dr. Maya reviews your request the same day and texts back to lock a calm, generous time slot, never a rushed double-booked clinic hour.
STEP 03
We arrive at your door, sit on the floor if that's where your pet is comfiest, and take the time to do it gently. You get notes and next steps before we leave.
Most of what a healthy or recovering pet needs can be done calmly at home. Every service includes the house-call visit and unhurried time, with no add-on for patience.
Need something not listed, like a dental assessment, a recheck, or a quality-of-life consult? Note it in your request and we'll tell you honestly whether it's a good fit for an at-home visit.

A nose-to-tail check-up done slowly, with notes and a plain-English plan.

We keep our map tight on purpose so visits stay calm and on time. Drop in your ZIP to check today's coverage. If you're just outside it, leave it and we'll reach out as the route grows.

Most pets aren't scared of the vet. They're scared of the building, the smells, the strangers. Take all that away and you're left with what they actually need: an unhurried doctor, in a room they already trust.
Dr. Maya Okafor
Founder & house-call veterinarian, DVM
Porch & Paw is a small, deliberately unhurried practice. You see the same doctor every visit, someone who knows that Pepper hides under the bed and that Biscuit only takes pills wrapped in cheese.
No surprise invoice at the door. Every visit includes the house call and unhurried time. Labs, medications, and special procedures are quoted up front, in writing, before anything starts.

Multi-pet homes save: each additional pet seen on the same visit is half the visit portion. End-of-life care is quoted privately and compassionately. See below.
“My cat hasn't let a vet near her in years. Dr. Maya sat on the kitchen floor for ten minutes doing nothing, and by the end Olive was in her lap. I almost cried.”
“Two big dogs, a baby, and no way I was loading everyone into the car. They came to us, did both wellness exams in the backyard, and we never broke the nap schedule.”
“When it was finally time to say goodbye to our old boy, doing it at home, on his bed, in the sun, was the most peaceful gift. Gentle, patient, never rushed.”
“The price she quoted in the text was the price I paid, to the dollar. No upsell, no surprise lab fee. She even called the next day to check on him.”
Saying goodbye is the hardest part of loving an animal. When that day comes, you shouldn't have to do it under fluorescent lights. Dr. Maya offers unhurried, compassionate in-home end-of-life care, so your companion can rest in their favorite spot, with the people they love.
On their bed, in a sunny window, or in your arms, wherever they're most at peace. No carrier, no clinic.
We take all the time you need. A soft sedative first, so it's quiet and painless, with you close.
We handle the next steps with dignity and walk you through every choice: cremation, paw prints, keepsakes.
These conversations are private and never rushed. Reach out whenever you're ready. There's no wrong time to ask a question.
Talk to us, gentlyOur flat visit price is usually in line with a clinic exam, and you skip the carrier, the car ride, the stress, and often a second visit. For anxious or senior pets, and multi-pet homes, most families find it's the calmer and the better-value choice.
A lot: wellness exams, vaccines, most sick visits, senior and mobility care, blood draws and samples, nails and ears, and end-of-life care. For anything that genuinely needs surgery, imaging, or hospitalization, we'll tell you honestly and help you coordinate with a clinic we trust.
We usually confirm same-day and can often visit within the week. We keep the route tight on purpose so visits stay calm and on time, which means we hold a limited number of slots each day rather than overbooking.
Yes, dogs and cats of every age. We're especially comfortable with cats and with anxious or fearful pets; the whole point of coming to you is removing the stress of the clinic. (We don't see exotics or pocket pets at this time.)
We confirm the flat visit price by text before we come, and you pay at the end of the visit by card or tap. Labs, medications, and any special procedures are always quoted in writing up front, never a surprise at the door.
Yes, and it's some of the most meaningful work we do. We come to you, take all the time you need, and make it peaceful and painless in your pet's favorite spot. We handle aftercare with care and dignity, and we're here for the questions before and after.
